An aggregation of white sharks takes place in the Pacific Ocean, still shrouded in mystery and scientific debate. White sharks from The Farallon Islands and Isla Guadalupe both make the journey to this remote location.

The White Shark Cafe is a concept launched by Skyler Thomas to get people talking about sharks while they have their drinks in various venues. Featuring his own photography and artwork (as well as collaborators) the images tell stories about a species many people still know very little about. Each instance of 'The White Shark Cafe' includes a presentation night, during which Skyler Thomas talks about the images on the wall and shows his "craziest" moments diving with sharks over the last 25 years.

The White Shark Cafe for humans is currently up at 540 Bar in the Inner Richmond District. Join us for opening night. 540 Clement St. at 7th Avenue.
This image (and the photos series under the main image) often get a lot of questions. White sharks are one of the only sharks known to lift their heads above the water to observe their surroundings. It is believed their eyes can compensate for the refraction changes that take place above and below water. This shark in particular spent hours at the boat returning to the captain over and over and allowing its snout to be touched. The shark ignored the cages, the bait, the chum, and kept coming back to the same spot to interact with the captain. A companion video about this can be found here.
